The COVID-19 pandemic has yet to see signs of an end. Since 27 May 2021, the Victorian Government announced a move to the circuit breaker restrictions. This policy certainly has an impact on many sectors, one of them is business. 

To support small to medium-sized businesses as well as sole traders, the Victorian Government has released the $250.7 million Circuit Breaker Business Support on 30 May 2021. 


The Circuit Breaker Business Support Package consists of business costs assistance program, licensed hospitality venue fund, and targeted support for the events industry. The package is intended for regional businesses unable to operate during the necessary public health measures, like nightclubs and amusement parks. 

The goal of this package is to give vital support to businesses operating to help keep Victorians safe along with the circuit breaker restrictions. 

What is the Circuit Breaker Business Support Package? 

The Victorian Government announced the Circuit Breaker Business Support Package with three types of packages, including: 

  • a $190.01 million for the Business Costs Assistance Program Round Two 
  • a $40.7 million for the Licensed Hospitality Venue Fund 
  • $20 million in targeted support for the events industry. 

The total support package of these grants is $460 million.

How much can we get? 

The number of grants that your business can get is differ depending on the type of program: 

  • Business Costs Assistance Program Round Two 

The program provides $2,500 or $5,000 funds for eligible employing and non-employing businesses in sectors most affected. These belong to businesses operating in an industry that cannot run under the restrictions and which cannot work remotely. 

  • Licensed Hospitality Venue Fund 2021 

The $40.7 million fund program supports businesses holding an eligible liquor license and food certificate with a $3,500 in regional Victoria and $7,000 in metropolitan Melbourne per premises. 

  • Victorian Events Support Package 

The $20 million packages are dedicated to supporting operators in the events industry who have experienced losses during the circuit-breaker restrictions.

To gain the benefits of the Circuit Breaker Business Support Package, you can visit the program page and kindly have to read all the details regarding the eligibility criteria, eligible sectors, information you need for your application, assessing your application, particular conditions, how to apply, program guidelines, and FAQs.  

Next, you can submit your online application through Business Costs Assistance Program Round Two submission form for this program.  

For the Licensed Hospitality Venue Fund 2021, you can only submit the application online through the form link sent by Business Victoria to your liquor license’s eLicense email address. For those of you who already has the liquor licenses without an eLicense, you have to set up one on the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation Liquor Portal by 20 June 2021 to receive the grant application from link.
